A big thank you to EA Fisheries Officer Ade Bicknell and the team at the EA's Calverton Fish Farm near Nottingham for the stocking of 300 Barbel, 200 Chub, 200 Dace and 150 Roach in the River Blackwater at Swallowfield and the St Patricks Stream, Twyford on Thursday 14th November. All of the Barbel where marked with a single blue dot under the pelvic fin so please keep an eye out for these if you are lucky enough to catch one and please let Ade at the EA or the LFCC know if you do. It is important to collect as much data as possible from catches of these marked fish so a good photo of the fish showing the mark, any identifying features it may had picked up since stocking, a length measurement if you can or a picture against something by which a size can be gauged, When and where it was caught.

WATERSHED Investigations - In Depth Coverage of the Water Crisis

About Watershed Investigations
This is a watershed moment. Rivers, lakes, aquifers, wetlands, coasts, oceans and the wildlife they support are under threat from climate change, pollution and misuse. Drought, flood and sea-level rise makes swathes of land uninhabitable or unproductive. At times up to two-thirds of the global population live in water-stressed areas. Water scarcity leads to conflict. Dirty water leads to dead zones and disease. Yet there’s a paucity of media coverage of these issues.
That’s where WATERSHED comes in. Our independent, not-for-profit, investigative journalism shines a light on the water crisis in its many forms, using in-depth, rigorous, evidence-based stories which hold the powerful to account, uncover abuses, illuminate overlooked stories, and champion solutions. Working with established national and international media outlets, WATERSHED provides stories in multi-media formats to reach a wide audience.
Our values are to undertake ethical investigative journalism, using the highest reporting standards to provide coverage with due impartiality that is fair, accurate and in the public interest.

Polluition Incident - River Whitewater

For information. Please forward on to the LFCC
Environment Agency Pollution Officers are working with Thames Water to resolve a burst sewage rising main at Hook.
Although there was initial concern about pollution to the River Whitewater dilution levels with clean water are high and water quality readings are ok. Although unfortunately some rag has run off and entered the river.
There has been no impact to fish and wildlife that we are aware of and tankers are working to relieve the situation.
I will keep the LFCC informed of any significant impact.
