A Chalk Strean Stratergy

The CaBA Chalk Stream Restoration Group has launched its first Chalk Stream Strategy – which calls for chalk streams in England to be given enhanced environmental status.

Why do we need a chalk-stream restoration strategy?

Chalk streams are among the most biodiverse of the UK’s rivers. Nearly all the world’s chalk streams are in England and they represent one of the UK’s most important contributions to global biodiversity. These clear-watered streams are a valuable habitat for Atlantic salmon, sea trout, grayling and lamprey, for otters, water voles and kingfishers, for rare invertebrates such as the winterbourne stonefly, and plants like stream water crowfoot. If we are to achieve the goal of our 25-year Environment Plan and leave the natural environment in a better state than we found it, we must address the multiple threats to the ecological health of our chalk streams.

LFCC Meeting  - Meeting Minutes November 21

Please use the link below to view the minutes of the recent LFCC Meeting. This was the first "in person" meeting held since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown. The meeting was held with limited places, mandatory face masks and ventilated meeting room. The LFCC would like to thank all of those who attended and complied with the restriction on the night. We would hope to repeat this for the next meeting some time in January 22 but will of course be led by current government guidlines at the time.

New LFCC Treasurer

LFCC is pleased to announce that Mr Trevor Ashton from Gresham AC has agreed to take over from Mr John Green as Treasurer.  John has been trying to stand down for some time but COVID meant this was much delayed.  Needless to say, the key step of handing over the account is made more difficult by COVID but once that has happened, Trevor will be able to take over the role.  LFCC offers its thanks to John for his service as Treasurer.  Please can we remind anyone who has not yet paid 2021 subs to pay them ASAP, preferably by bank transfer.
